Hello October and Halloween Decor

Image
Its finally October and you know what that means...it's time to get spooky y'all! I love holidays and all things festive, so you know I'm gonna go all out this month for Halloween. My bullet journal is the same as it was last month so I'm not really going to talk about that but here is my cover page with my usual doodles that look like they were done by a 6 year old. One addition though that I thought would be fun is that I decided to try to watch one Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode each day in October (I think there are about 30) and I have that in my habit tracker. So lets see if I can actually accomplish this along with the huge list of other Halloween specials and movies I just HAVE to watch each year. Now onto the decorations! Maybe in a later blog post I will do an official apartment tour but for now I'm solely focusing on my Halloween decor. I have decorated my room as well as the living room area of my apartment. Most of the decorations are from Tar...

Should I Just Move to Evanston?

Image
Ok so sadly I don't have plans to move to Evanston anytime soon, but I did spend a good majority of my weekend there! First on Saturday night some of my roommates and I went up to Northwestern to see a football game. Sadly Loyola doesn't have a team so Northwestern was our best (and closest) option for college football. Even before the game we had fun just walking around and people watching during the tailgate. We even participated in some tailgating activities at Wildcat Alley where there was a Photo Booth, face painting, corn hole, and we even got to listen to the Northwestern marching band before the game. Sadly the Wildcats did not win this one but it was still a fun game! On Sunday I went back up to Evanston to meet up with some of my friends for brunch and shopping. We went to one of my favorite brunch spots, Cupitol where I of course got a Peach Bellini and a sweet potato bowl with a poached egg (Im pretty predictable when it comes to my brunch order). It was a bea...

My Top Stores: Christmas Shopping Edition

Image
It may seem early for some of you, but I have already began my Christmas shopping. I like to get it done early because while I am in Chicago I have access to the most stores plus it means I won't have to worry about it during my Christmas break and can instead focus on time with family and friends (as well as the dozens of Christmas movies I HAVE to watch every year.) Here is a list of  some of my personal favorite places to buy presents for everyone on my list. Francesca's : Are you really surprised that my favorite store made it on this list! Not only does it have adorable clothes and accessories, for your loved ones and yourself ;) but it also has an accessory and home section with cute holiday themed items that make perfect stocking stuffers or small gifts! P.O.S.H .: This is my new fav that I discovered randomly while strolling in the city. It is perfect for hard to shop for parents or anyone that loves vintage items. There is only one store located in Chicago but ...

Cooling Down in Lincoln Park

Image
I'm going to be honest, ever since I moved here part time, Lincoln Park has become one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore. This weekend it is finally starting to cool down and it was the perfect day to grab lunch do some window shopping and just walk around enjoying the mild weather. After a full week of me being in denial thinking it was Fall (even though it was 70 degrees out) I finally felt a nice crisp fall breeze. Although it was still slightly warm enough to get Jenni's Ice Cream, which is a nice little ode to my dear Columbus Ohio. This outfit is the perfect example of a "Basic Julia Outfit" which will usually consist of jeans, a striped top, scarf, and statement earrings. Seriously I wear some kind of variation of this at LEAST once a week in the fall. By the way I absolutely adore how perfectly my scarf and earrings match! I couldn't find them online but the earrings are Kate Spade and I got them at TJ Maxx and the scarf is from Francesca (I wa...

Evanston, More Brunch Than a Girl Can Handle

Image
Sometimes even I need a break from downtown Chicago, which is why my recent day trip to Evanston was the perfect mini getaway. It was also the perfect opportunity to wear one of my more summery outfits during these last few warm days. I met a friend up there for brunch and I was relieved when she already had a place in mind, because there were so many breakfast and brunch restaurants it would have taken me half the day to decided. We ate at Cupitol Coffee and Eatery and I got a mimosa (its not brunch without it) and a sweet potato bowl which was way more delicious than I thought it would be. The weather outside was perfect and we were lucky enough to get a table outside. I highly recommend this place for brunch, just be prepared for a pretty big crowd or wait (nothing too bad though considering it was peak brunch hour). After brunch we walked to a bakery we had both passed called, Bennison's Bakery . Just walking by you can smell the fresh donuts so we could not resist popping ...

September: Never Was a Cloudy Day

Image
Hello! Yes it is September time which means autumn is upon us. September has never been my favorite month, because for me its always been just the waiting period for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and all of the amazingness that comes with them. This year though I want to enjoy September so I've created a September Bucket List that I'm posting here so that I have a reason to stick to it. Most of the things on this list are just silly and basic because this list is just about enjoying and cherishing this month that I usually just try to get through as quickly as possible. Feel free to also try and conquer some of the items on this bucket list along with me. September Bucket List Go on a late night Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate or Tea run (I hate coffee, don't shoot) Do an Autumn Photoshoot Brunch! Watch Fall Movies that ARE NOT Halloween Movie ex) Dead Poet's Society, You Got Mail,  Buy Autumn Decorations and decorate my dorm Go to a football game or baseb...

Im Back Baby!

Image
Goodbye Ohio Hello Chicago! It feels so great to be back in the city to start another school year. Junior year honestly creeped up on me so quickly I'm still in shock. Every year I'm worried about adjusting back to city life after a whole summer back in my home town and every year the second I get back I am right back in the swing of things city views I can't wait to see what this school year has in store for me. New classes, New internships, Friends old and new, and New experiences galore. Be ready for more posts coming up where I give a tour of my new crib (best decor yet), showcase my new work wardrobe, try my hand at cooking, and just share new experiences in this city I have chosen to become home. And FYI Ohio is still home to me (It is possible to have more than 1 home) 1st day of classes outfit Also I am a person who focuses more on School Year Resolutions, as opposed to New Years Resolution. This year my resolutions are to focus on my own happiness and ...
