Post Christmas Thoughts

Image
Hello! It has been a hot second! Sorry for the radio silence between finals and preparing for Christmas I have been a tad busy and honestly a bit unmotivated to write or post anything. I hope you all had an amazing Holiday Season. I know I did! I did plenty of festive activities including decorating, watching too many Christmas movies and specials to count, going to Christmas parties, and even taking a magical ride on the Polar Express. I love this time of year not only because of these activities but also being able to do these activities with family and friends. Every year we go to our family friends house on Christmas Day and it is always the highlight of the day. Being surrounded by loved ones and everyone being full of Christmas cheer and good will is honestly what really makes this time of year so magical. My family seemed very happy with the gifts they received (hopefully my parents get plenty of use out of the coffee pod carousel I got them) and I was also thrilled with ...

My Fall Break: Doing All Things Autumn in One Weekend

Image
Ya this is about a week late, sorry but I've been pretty busy (sadly my senior thesis isn't going to write itself) But I did recently have a great Fall Break back in Ohio. During this break I succeeded in my goal to do all things Fall related. I arrived Friday night, so first on Saturday I went to the farmers market with my friend Jess. Also on Saturday my dad and I went to the Ohio State game (my first time actually attending an OSU game if you can believe it). It was so much fun we walked around beforehand and checked out the tailgating scene. Going to Loyola I miss out on football tailgating so it was great to experience it. We also saw the marching band perform before the game which was also a great experience. The actual game was a lot of fun, even though it was pretty stressful. Even though it was 80 degrees it was still a perfect fall activity. Also that weekend my family and I went to a corn maze and market. The corn maze itself was fun (not very decorated or diffi...

I Feel it in my Fingers I Feel it in my Toes

Hi! Sorry I've been gone for so long, finals and preparing for Christmas has really occupied my time. Also this year we were a little late getting our Christmas decorations up. Decorations are one of my favorite aspects about the holidays and we definitely have our own unique way of doing ours. We have two trees, one that my mom decorates and it features most of our glass and traditional ornaments as well as plenty of red baubles to fit the theme of the rest of our house. This tree also features birthday ornaments as an ode to my dad's birthday on Christmas Day. The second tree is decorated solely by yours truly and features homemade decorations from when my brother and I were kids as well as a few personal ornaments that pertain more to our interests growing up (a la this wonderful Harry Potter ornament, and this beautiful stack of books which is a new addition). I am also obsessed with the new tree topper we got this year. It's unique yet festive. Throughout the r...

It Begins With a Tree

Image
I am one of those people that the second Thanksgiving is over I start focusing on Christmas. As much as I love Thanksgiving, Christmas is truly my favorite time of the year. So what better way to begin the Christmas season than by getting a Christmas Tree. Getting the tree is one of my favorite traditions and this year. Every year we go to Walsh Tree Farm in St. Louisville which has a huge and wonderful selection of pre-cut and cut your own trees. After we get our tree we go to the Granville Inn (which is already decked out for the holidays) for dinner. All the way there and all the way back we listened to Christmas music. There is still so much to do before Christmas, including the shopping, decorating, and of course studying for finals. Every year the Christmas season goes by quicker and quicker, so I like to cherish each day. BTW this is not our tree. This is the beautiful tree in  the Granville Inn When do you start preparing for Christmas, do you have any...
