Cooling Down in Lincoln Park

Image
I'm going to be honest, ever since I moved here part time, Lincoln Park has become one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore. This weekend it is finally starting to cool down and it was the perfect day to grab lunch do some window shopping and just walk around enjoying the mild weather. After a full week of me being in denial thinking it was Fall (even though it was 70 degrees out) I finally felt a nice crisp fall breeze. Although it was still slightly warm enough to get Jenni's Ice Cream, which is a nice little ode to my dear Columbus Ohio. This outfit is the perfect example of a "Basic Julia Outfit" which will usually consist of jeans, a striped top, scarf, and statement earrings. Seriously I wear some kind of variation of this at LEAST once a week in the fall. By the way I absolutely adore how perfectly my scarf and earrings match! I couldn't find them online but the earrings are Kate Spade and I got them at TJ Maxx and the scarf is from Francesca (I wa...

Room Tour: College Dorm Edition

Image
I feel like I'm pretty late on this. It's only because I've been waiting until we were all decorated for Autumn and everything was put together. I share my dorm with three other roommates and I just adore what we have been able to do with this space. The main area is so cozy and chic and I finally have a dining area where I actually enjoy eating meals (P.S. the cookies on the table were provided by some of our lovely floor mates!) I love decorating for seasons and holidays so the small pumpkins everywhere really help get into the autumn spirit. We also have a Bath and Body Works plug in called Leaves that smells amazing! My bedroom is quite small but also very cosy! In it you'll find an array of random items that most likely don't mesh that well together, including my mini shrine to all things British (God Save the Queen....and Mr. Bean!) Also MORE PUMPKINS! I will admit that I mainly use my desk as a makeup table and a place to get ready in the morning...

Fall Break: Football, Rain, and Fun

Image
This weekend was my Fall Break from classes. This was also my first time back to Ohio since starting classes this fall. I love this break because it is a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family in Ohio and do Autumn activities that I can't do in Chicago (such as going to a high school football game for the first time since I graduated.) This was also a great opportunity to wear some of my new fall wardrobe! Most of what I wore this weekend is actually from Target, because they just released this new line called "A New Day". The price and quality of this line is amazing and I honestly love everything I've seen from this new collection. My first outfit was perfect for a day of running around town with friends and going to a football game. It was one of those days where during the middle of the day its really hot out so I was just wearing the tank, but when it cooled down at night all I needed was to throw on my trusty green army jacket. Also I am a fi...

Evanston, More Brunch Than a Girl Can Handle

Image
Sometimes even I need a break from downtown Chicago, which is why my recent day trip to Evanston was the perfect mini getaway. It was also the perfect opportunity to wear one of my more summery outfits during these last few warm days. I met a friend up there for brunch and I was relieved when she already had a place in mind, because there were so many breakfast and brunch restaurants it would have taken me half the day to decided. We ate at Cupitol Coffee and Eatery and I got a mimosa (its not brunch without it) and a sweet potato bowl which was way more delicious than I thought it would be. The weather outside was perfect and we were lucky enough to get a table outside. I highly recommend this place for brunch, just be prepared for a pretty big crowd or wait (nothing too bad though considering it was peak brunch hour). After brunch we walked to a bakery we had both passed called, Bennison's Bakery . Just walking by you can smell the fresh donuts so we could not resist popping ...
