A Chill Weekend in London

Finally a break! While I have had an amazing time during my travels these past few weekends, it was nice to stay in London this weekend. Even though this weekend was very relaxed I certainly did not waste it.

On Fridays I don't have classes so I decided it would be a perfect day to knock out one of the many museums on my To Do Lists so I took a solo trip to the London Natural History Museum. Museums are the perfect places to take solo trips because you get to walk through the exhibits at your own pace and go to what interests you most. I adored the museum, I have been going to a lot of art museums the past few weeks so it was nice to throw some science and history in the mix...and dinosaurs, lots and lots of dinosaurs. Also worth noting is no lie I had the BEST tuna melt ever at one of the cafes in the museum! I spent Friday night hanging out with my roomie as well as FaceTiming with one of my friends from the states, another thing I haven't had a lot of time to do with my constant traveling.

Saturday was mainly my study day. I have midterms coming up and since most of them involve essays I really wanted to get them done in advance. My friends and I mostly worked in the lounge of our housing as well as in our own rooms. Another thing I like to do on weekends when I am in London is go to the gym. My program provided me with a membership to a gym nearby and it is really nice. Its a great way to get my cardio in on those days when I'm not walking 24/7, I can also get some strength training it. Plus walking up and down those stairs is a workout in itself. I did take a study break this weekend to watch a movie I had heard really good things about. The movie is called "Your Name" and it is a Japanese anime film and while I am not a huge anime person (except Studio Ghibli) I really enjoyed it. The plot is difficult to explain but if you ever get the chance to watch it I really recommend it, its different but visually stunning and a really interesting plot.

On Sunday I participated in my favorite pastime, I of course am talking about brunch. Any weekend day is made tremendously better with a good brunch with good friends. We went to Ozone Coffee which is near Old Street, an area that is close to me but I had not yet been to. The place itself was really popular (so we knew it was good) and had a really good vibe. Im not sure why but whenever I get brunch I always gravitate towards the vegan and vegetarian option (even though I am neither). This brunch was not exception. My meal was a quiche like tortilla made from potato and leeks with tons of veggies and a poached egg. I really enjoyed it, plus one of my friends ordered banana bread and shared some and that was also really good! After brunch we went to Brick Lane outdoor market which was nearby. There were tons of great looking stalls and while I didn't buy anything I know I will be back! (even if it is just to finally get turkish delight. The rest of my evening was spent attempting to study, but actually giving up and watching Legally Blonde 2. This weekend was a great recharge and I can't wait to continue planning my upcoming travels in Europe (I have already booked my flight for Rome in April!)

What is your favorite way to spend a chill weekend? Is brunch better enjoyed on a Saturday or Sunday? Let me know in the comments!
