You Shall Go to the Ball

I can honestly say when I left high school I thought I would never go to another school dance. But college has a way of surprising you. Loyola has a President's Ball in the fall that is open to all students (but seems to be mostly attended by seniors and juniors). I had never been to the ball in the past but since it is my senior year I thought it would be a great experience.

I was so excited when I bought my ticket the week of until I realized I still needed a dress! After searching through some stores with very little luck I finally found the absolute perfect dress. I got my dress at a newer store in the Water Tower Mall (its only been open for a few months) called Altar'd State. I had been in the store before to just look around and they have so many super cute casual and more fancy clothes. They were also already all decked out for Christmas which is also what drew me there. When I saw my dress hanging I instantly fell in love and after trying it on I knew it was the perfect dress for the occasion. Especially since it was a combinations of my two favorite things, burgundy and off shoulder, what more could a girl ask for! I also had a chance to wear my new jacket!

On the actual night of the Ball, my roommates and I decided we wanted to go all out, so we made reservations at La Pizza e La Pasta in Eataly. I opted for the agnolotti, which were similar to little raviolis that were filled with goat cheese. Definitely delicious! After dinner we headed straight to Navy Pier where the Ball was being held.
Once we were there it was so fun to see some of my other friends all dressed up and having a great time. We definitely took plenty of pictures. There was also a chocolate fountain which was a perfect dessert after dinner. We definitely did plenty of dancing (even though I have almost zero sense of rhythm). I even took part in some line dancing. It turns out though that I DO remember the Cha Cha Slide but I DO NOT remember the Cotton Eyed Joe. My elementary school gym teacher would be ashamed that I never learned that dance.

After we felt that we had danced all we could we decided to leave the Ball. Our "chariot" home turned out to be a big yellow school bus which was super nostalgic but also fun in a way! I definitely had a great time and I am so happy I went. It really made my senior year feel so much more real.

Do you remember your school dances? Have you gone to any in college? Let me know in the comments!
